There is a vacancy on the board of trustees of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District and the district is looking for strong, well-motivated people who would like to apply for the one-year appointment.
This is a critical time for ARUESD because the district will soon be choosing a new Superintendent of Schools as well as hammering out contract negotiations. Suitable candidates will need to be skillful at consensus building and listening, and be able to commit adequate time to the position. “Common sense” and volunteer experience in the Alum Rock Community are essential. If you’re qualified, this is an opportunity to put your skills to good using making a difference in our community. There are three required qualifications: 1. Reside within the district boundaries, 2. Be at least 18 years old, 3. Be a registered voter.

On October 31, 2005, Trustee Jaime Alvarado filed his resignation from the Governing Board of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District, effective October 31, 2005. At a special meeting on November 30, 2005, the Board intends to make a provisional appointment to fill this pending vacancy. Such appointee's term shall expire in November 2006.
Persons interested in being considered for the Board's appointment to fill the vacancy, and who are otherwise eligible to serve as a member of the Governing Board, should submit a written letter of interest to the Superintendent's Office, so that it is received by the Superintendent’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on November 28, 2005. The letter of interest should include a statement of interest in the position and a listing of the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications.
