The end wall of the Alum Rock Park
Visitors’ Center was being pocked with
large acorn woodpecker holes. The strips
of mylar were hung to discourage the birds
from their incessant knocking - before
new harder wall material was installed.

Here’s one of the culprits working on a hole.
Knock, knock, knock!

Here’s how the holes in the siding looked.
There were dozens of them!

This photo of an acorn woodpecker gives
a clear view of the clown’s colorful face.
